Amy Winehouse's BBC performances to feature on box set
A compilation of performances by the late Amy Winehouse at the BBC is to be released for charity in November.
The four-disc box set includes 10 live tracks from various sessions she performed for the BBC, chosen by musician Jools Holland.
Candid interviews and rare footage of the star will also be included across the three DVDs and one CD collection.
Proceeds will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, set up by her family after her death in July 2011.
BBC producer Mark Cooper, who worked closely with Winehouse on many of the sessions featured on the set, said Jools Holland "loved Amy straight away."
"Britain has produced a lot of brilliant female singer-songwriters and vocalists in the last decade or so, many from Beth Gibbons to Adele, rooted in older black American forms, soul and jazz and blues," he continued "But there was only ever one Amy Winehouse. She was frank and fresh and haunted. And we miss her."
Rap star Nas, who was a friend of the singer's, has written a foreword for the collection, in which he recalls the first time he heard her sing.
"I instantly knew she was destined to be one of the greatest," he said.
The set also includes a DVD of her performance at Porchester Hall, London, recorded in 2007 as well as a documentary, Amy Winehouse: The Day She Came To Dingle, which recently aired on BBC Four.
Winehouse won five Grammy awards for her second album, Back to Black, in 2008, making her the first British female to do so.
She died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, aged 27, having released just two albums in her short career.
Last year, a CD of outtakes and unreleased tracks, called Lionness: Hidden Treasures, was issued as a tribute to the star.
