Amy Winehouse sings Some Unholy War down tempo version on this video.

Some Unholy War was included on Amy’s Delux Edition Back To Black album.

At the Glastonbury Festival in 2008, Amy said before playing Some Unholy War — “First song I ever wrote about Blake here, I didn’t even know what its about… and I still don’t… it’s a work in progress yeah. Hey listen I don’t get let out much, ya know what I mean.”

Some Unholy War is definitely one of her darkest song, especially when heard as the original down tempo version.

Amy has stated in an interview that when her record company first heard this version, they told her it sounded like death, and that it had to be sped up.

Here are the Some Unholy War song lyrics…

If my man was fighting
Some unholy war
I would be behind him
Straight shook up beside him
With strength he didn’t know
It’s you I’m fighting for
He can’t lose with me in tow
I refuse to let him go
At his side and drunk on pride
We wait for the blow

We put it in writing
But who you writing for
Just us on kitchen floor
Justice done reciting
My stomach standing still
Like you’re reading my will
He still stands in spite of what his scars say
And I’ll battle til this bitter finale
Just me my dignity and this guitar case

Yeah my man is fighting some unholy war
I will stand beside you
And who you dying for
B I would have died too
I’d like too
If my man was fighting
Some unholy war
If my man was fighting
Some unholy war
If my man was fighting
Some unholy war
