Amy Winehouse’s former home in Camden Town to be sold at auction, with guide price of £1.8 million

AMY Winehouse’s former home in Camden Town is to go under the hammer after estate agents failed to find a buyer.

The award-winning singer’s Camden Square house was marketed for £2.7million last year, but the catalogue guide price released yesterday shows it has been slashed to £1.8m ahead of its auction next month.

It has been placed in the hands of Camden property specialists McHugh & Co and bids will be taken at an auction held at Bafta’s headquarters in Piccadilly on December 3.

The auction catalogue describes it is “a substantial semi-detached house” which has been “modernised to an exceptionally high standard.” Features include a video entry phone in the door, a gym and a music room with sound-proofed walls.

Winehouse, 27, considered one of the greatest British female vocalists of all time for her albums Frank and Back To Black, was found dead at the property in July last year.

A shrine of flowers and cards (and whisky bottles) built up outside in the days that followed and the Camden Square nameplates were removed by mourners as mementos.

Winehouse had got herself clean from drugs and was dealing with her drinking, but slipped with a binge on the night before she was found.

Loved in Camden Town, there have been plans to erect a statue of her at the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm Road.

Her father Mitch began the Amy Winehouse Foundation in her memory to educate and help those suffering from addiction.

The singer’s family said in a statement last year: “The Winehouses have decided to put the house on the market, with great regret. Amy loved that house but none of the family felt it appropriate that they should live in it.”
