Bookies William Hill make the Amy Winehouse album their 4/7 favourite to take the coveted Christmas number one album spot on the 25th. Her nearest challenger is Michael Buble at 11/8 with Rihanna & One Direction 7/1 shots.
‘It looks like a two horse race and Amy is currently in the lead,’ said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.
“As we expected, ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ is looking likely to top the album charts this weekend and give Amy a posthumous no.1 – which is arguably the best tribute we can pay her.
With only a few weeks to go before the official Christmas charts are announced, it clearly has momentum on its side to stay in the top 5, although Michael Bublé’s ‘Christmas’ album – which has huge gifting appeal, remains our favourite to claim the festive no.1.” said Gennaro Castaldo spokesman for HMV.
